I Contadini "la Rustica" Passata Di Pomodoro

In Salento, at the heel of Italy's boot, I Contadini still grows its own tomatoes rather than buying them in from somewhere else.

This passata is made from Italian tomatoes grown on the family's own property in Puglia, crushed and strained into a smooth purée. I Contadini uses no preservatives across their line, relying instead on the tomatoes themselves to carry the flavor of their Salento soil.

TASTING: bright, tangy, sweet, fresh

PAIRING: Primitivo, fresh basil, mozzarella

SERVING: simmered into a quick marinara for pasta, used as the base for a Neapolitan pizza sauce, or stirred into a simple minestrone
